The Grid
@idle me=<reason for idle> <-- use this to denote why you are idle on the game. So if an Admin pages you, they don't have to wait for a long time for you to respond. Lack of response will result in action being taken. Having you set OOC for instance.
1) Do not idle in an IC area containing RP for more than 15 minutes max. If we see players idle in RP scenes without a good reason, we will +set you ooc ourselves, regardless of how long you've been idle. You can idle in an IC area that's considered private for as long as you want, and there's nothing wrong with being on the grid and idle as long as you're prepared to RP. If you're not prepared to be IC then idle in a private IC location and not in the middle of the street.
2) Don't walk into a RP scene and begin to idle, this is a good way to earn a +set ooc and possibly a formal warning.
3) Scene Walking: This is probably the most annoying thing I have seen and a good way to earn yourself a rep as a bad Rp'er from my players and the Admin. Walking in and out of a RP without stopping to look at the scene or room desc, pose to the players in that scene and perhaps wait for a GM to tell you what's going on.
- To clarify this, you are required to at least pose a small passing pose, hurry along on your way, sneak past or find some other IC reason to bypass the scene that's going on. Remember that you can miss out of vital opportunities and RP this way, and if you bypass a GM controlled scene such as a battle they have the right to call you on it.
4) Idle in OOC Areas. Sometimes you have to idle, it can't be avoided or helped. If you have to idle now more than 24 hours in an OOC area the game will auto-boot you itself. If you do the same in an IC area (Which you shouldn't do) It will likewise, boot you itself. If you have a good reason to idle (RL Emergency or likewise) then if you know you're going to be idle for more than 30 mins, just tell the players you're rp'ing with you have to go and leave the scene without interrupting their RP. This can be done by a page to all involved or just a quick OOC message.
5) If we see a player idle in an OOC area or a private Grid area who complains that they are not getting anywhere with RP or any RP at all. I will likely issue them with a stern talking to, due to the fact it's up to the player to go out and RP on the grid. No public gridroom is private - walk in, start rp'ing and people will or should respond, if they don't then I'll have issues with that as well.
6) If you're not sure of something, always ask one of the admin (+staff) and they will usually get back to you promptly. Remember to use +who, +where and +zwho to find the RP'ers...and don't be afraid of experimenting with +help +cwho as well, to customize it.
