High Elves

High or Royal Elves. These elves live far away in their own lands in gleaming cities of gold, silver and crystal. They are the fantastic image of the elven peoples that the common folk hear about, they are the closest to the Fae that birthed them in the past. Royal elves are regal and long lived as all their kin. Their architecture is one of sweeping curves and aesthetic lines. Dragons, Doves, Eagles and various other fine creatures appear in their stone/crystalwork and their buildings. Many domed homes and towers that pierce the skyline can be seen rising from their Capital City of Kaldoniel far away. Using the crystal in the rock they have constructed giant walls and ramparts, gates, bridges and features. Their gardens are well cultivated and often more forested than anything, set with statues of fine marble and their peculiar white stone found in that region only.

It's called Swanstone and is easily moulded when wet, it can be made into a variety of shapes and figures by skilled elfin hands, and cured with fire will remain in that shape for a long time, resisting the weather and erosion. Once fired the stone loses its ability to be reshaped and becomes as solid as rock. It can take minor enchantments and is often enchanted to glow when in the presence of music, changing colour in time and mood to the song or tune heard. These Elves often mage huge Statuaries of the stuff and in the Center a bandstand of some kind so that when their minstrels play. The sound and spectacle is quite something to behold.

Their culture is based on the finer things in life, music and art being two prime ones, they love nothing more than to sit and talk for days and days on philosophy and debate religions. Most of them worship Summer as their patron as well, both Lady and Lord. They have a well organised social structure and follow a King and Queen, King Tamarane and Queen Elbair are the current rulers and they often hold extravegant parties at their Castle 'Duna-Habb-Rel' or the Castle of Flowing Stone. They make fine Mages and wonderful Musicians usually excelling in the arts of magecraft and adoring magic and magical items to a sense of obsession.

They love good food and wine again to the point of an obsession and can recount endless tales of their crop growing and how better their wines are to everyone elses. These elves have a fine and well trained/drilled military and field weapons and armour of very stout make, quite beautiful to see. They are fond of a striking look and colour scheme using reds, golds and rich oranges in their clothing and armour. Their armour is made of magically strengthened and enhanced gold, strong and durable, they prefer to use silver weapons and again strengthen and enchant them with powerful magics. These are the elves that loathe and despise the Goblinoid races to the point of a fanatical hatred, yet even amongst some of them that is tempered with wisdom/understanding.

Their prime wine is a beverage that they call Soholal or Wine of the Solar, Sunwine. It's a powerful, rich, sparkling yellow/orange drink that has a kick like an enraged and argumentative Dragon. Tastes of sweet summer days and honey.

The music that they weave is powerful and haunting, often long and long winded, it will always wrap a story around it, usually of a tale of unrequited love or some lost family member, they are the most angst ridden of all the elvish peoples. They use harps and string instruments mostly, sometimes they will use a pipe or two in their songs to create the wail of the wind or the lament of a lost soul. Most of the travelling minstrels will often use magic to augment their music, illusions and colours.

As for clothing and the like, regal, flowing and outstanding are a few words to describe their sense of dress. They drip with jewells and they drip with silks, velvets, satins and high quality leather. Colours are rich and vibrant mixing shades of gold, yellow, orange, red and brown effortlessly. Their skin colourations are usually bronzed or tanned with long, fine flowing golden coloured hair, very rare is it to see dark colours in this race of Elf. Their eyes are vibrant and usually golden as well, some do have black, silver and green eyes. In very rare cases, black and red eyes are possible. Their clothing style is flamboyant, usually tunics spun with gold, long draping hooded cloaks and tight pants or breeches.

They are the creme of the creme in their own haughty eyes and expect to look the part. They are described as stuffy and elegant toffee nosed egotists who have too much time on their hands and care little for the affairs of other races. And this unfortunately is true. They don't tend to die of old age, but they can often be seen dead by the hands of others who have simply had enough of them. One word of warning don't try and use this race to be obnoxious to other players and pretend you are something you're not. Play them as haughty but not overtly insulting...they are not easy at all to play.
