Wild Elves

Wild or Forest Elves come from the deeper and more shadowy woods, they decided early in their lifespan that the trees would be their homes and the dark of a leafy canopy would be their shelter. They eschewed the Cities of men and their kin, retreating into the natural world to become almost reclusive and vanish from the eyes of the other races. Only the Felin and the Wilder races saw a hide nor hair of them for a long time.

And in their Forest Cities they lived, for theirs was a magic of the natural cycle of life, and thusly they had the power of nature itself. Their spells could make wood, water and earth obey their will and the greatest of their kind fashioned homes from the very trees themselves, not hollowing out with cutter or axe, but gentle meshings of life and functional living spaces. To see a Wild Elf's city is to see the trees themselves, only on closer examination can you see the walkways from twisted branches and the small windows that glimmer out of the trunks.

They learned at an early age to work with the living tree and magic, fashioned their weapons and armour from wood and natural materials and their windows are made with the help of clear tree sap and again, magic. The Wild's weapons are some of the most simple yet beautiful weapons to behold, taking the style of a sword or an axe made from many kinds of differing woods they've blended them perfectly to create an aesthetic yet pleasing look. Spells have been placed onto the weapons to stop them from breaking too easily and to make them sharp, their wooden swords might look somewhat ineffective but can sever limbs and run through most creatures with little trouble.

The Wild make perfect and competant Archers and every one of them from a very early age is trained how to use a long and shortbow, fletch and make their own arrows. They usually carry a few phials of the liquid that they use to harden their weapons and armour on them so field repairs can be made and new ones quickly constructed. Their culture is not one of barbarism but living with the natural order of things, to an outsider their ways might seem frightening and alien but to them it is just how things are. They could be likened to the wise American Indians or the Bush People of Austrailia in their way of life. It would be impossible in a work of this short sketch to detail all their cultural things and their cultural diversities so I'm not going to even try. They make fierce fighters of both sexes, live a rich and simple life, anything they want can be gained from the earth or the trees around them. They dine on red meat and a mix of vegetables and ferment various fruit, vegetable and tree-saps into their wine.

One such drink is called Sapal, it's a blend of spices, certain leaves and of course specially prepared sap from the 'Tabas' trees. Tabas meaning 'flowing'. It has an intoxicating effect and is slightly aphrodisiac in nature, tasting like a stronger version of fizzy pops such as Sprite and Mountain Dew. You could mix a fair few parts of vodka and malibu to some lemonade or Sprite etc to get the effect but I don't recommend it and RP'ing at the same time.

Their music can best be described as sounding like Incantation, music from the Andes mountains. Drums, wind instruments, and anything they can make from natural sounds. Their songs often are more tribal chants and always tell a story, be it a battle or a great hunt. Their voices are rich yet they have an edge of the wild about them, again passionate in their music as they are in life, social boundaries that City Folk have mean very little at times to these people. Imala'Mala'Kal'Baya as they say. I do as I do for I am me.

Their clothing is again taken from the natural world, fur, leather, cloth. Anything and everything that can be used to cover a part of the body, anything that's not covered is often painted or tattooed, they express a lot of their personal history in various tatooos over their body and are not adverse to showing outsiders of their exploits, usually stripping down to just enough to show the tats. Though nakedness bothers them not in a private or public place. Feathers and small bits of crystal often adorn their clothes and their bodies, they can use magic to set various gems into their skin, and often quartz or ruby is a prized stone for this. A Wild will not wear a necklace of rubies when they can have a collar of skin-gems.

When out and about across the lands they do learn from the cultures they interact with and often will tend to adapt their manners to fit in with some of their peers customs. Not many however. Strong willed and independant they remain staunchly part of the wild, worshipping many gods, and the Great Wolf.

One more pointer to their looks, they have usually bronzed or earthy tinted skin, and their hair is often dyed, usually greens or a mottle of leaf colours. Natural hair colours range from brown through to dark blonde and sometimes red. Their eye colour is often hazel, green, grey and deep soulful brown.
