Elves
Elves, what can we say of Elves, mystical beings from the very soul of the world, powerful and terrible foes in battle. Blood of the Ashirion themselves the children of the Fae. Elves were created when a pair of Fae remained on Ashirion rather than electing to live in the light of the Fae Kingdoms they chose the material world of the mortals. So then were their children subsiquently born of the same blood but weaker and weaker down the ages until only their almost ageless quality remained. The Ashirion Elves are tall, lithe and graceful, they tend to be sub-divided into different Sub-Races which will be detailed at the end of this document file.
Most of these particular Elves have a few qualities in common. Namely the heights and the weights, the hair colourations, unless where noted and the general way of life. This is a mammoth undertaking to present all the information therein but I will attempt to present some of it. Consider this first section a general overview of Elves themselves.
Elves live in various kinds of places, they can be found in Forest Kingdoms, Cities of man and the deeper places of the world. They live for a very long time, thousands and thousands of years, the cap on PC Elves I would suggest being around 500-800 years at the oldest, there are exceptions to this rule depending on how well the History has been understood. They have a rich, lyrical and well spoken language, their long lifespans allowing them to understand and learn a few extra languages.
They have a deep afinity for nature and the natural world, their hearing and eyesight is often sharper and more defined than most of the other races. They make excellent archers because of their natural sharper eyesight and abilities. Such as better grace and speed than most man races. Place an elf and a human together most of the time the elf will always make the human look ungainly and clumsy. It is a rare thing to see a human make an elf look this.
They range from six feet in height to a clear seven feet tall, ethereal and often pale skinned, thin yet possessed of a sapling like strength they appear at once magical and yet very real. All elves do not suffer the same weight problems as most of the other races, they are capable of walking across snow and ice without hinderances, such as sinking and slipping into the mud. They do not get buffeted by high winds, or tangled in bracken and brush. These are gifts from their Sidthe parentage.
Elves are fond of music and fine art, being esoteric creatures they compose long winded sonnets and poetry. They care for the land and work in harmony with it, be it in a City or in a Forest. They use weapons and armour of fine make, to them the art of smithing a sword is also the art of making a sword look fine. They carve intricate patterns into the metal, make fine and curved guards, often with a natural look to them. But do not be fooled. An Elven weapon is a strong one indeed, they have their own metal that they call 'Nimredel' this is a magical alloy of silver, gold and quicksilver, using old and arcane processes to strengthen and improve the blade. Like ancient Japanese smiths they fold the blade thousands of times until it has the strength to slice through stone. During this process the blade iteself picks up on a little magic of its own and often glimmers with a faint green light when exposed to darkness.
Their music and way of life are bound together with their art of combat, often those who watch an elf in battle describe the fluid motion as like a flowing river of death. They have no love at all for the Goblinoid Races and things that could be described as monsters. But they will not persecute a being for being what they are. They have learned since that there is a light to be found even in the darkness of a Goblin's heart. Tolerance is the word I would use in these situations, they have learned much recently.
They favour long flowing clothes and clothes of exquisite make and style, flounced sleeves and billowing cloaks, something that looks dramatic and yet pleasing at the same time. Usually in the various colours that are both subtle and outstanding, sometimes their dress style is influenced by their sub-race, Wild Elves for instance tend to wear more natural clothes, buckskins, loincloths, furs. Dark Elves favour dark colours, purples, blacks and very gothic style clothing, almost archaic.
They brew a number of various beverages with high alchoholic content and it takes a great deal to get an elf drunk. Some of their drinks are the famous Sunwine, Highwine and their most famous drink, distilled from the very light of the Moon, Luneael.
Sunwine and Highwine are rich fruity drinks with a hint of honey like mead almost and Luna Wine Luneael is a taste that mortals and elves liken to a drink of the gods, sweet and yet possessed of a strength that could knock a dwarf into a stupor in just one glass.
Elves are further sub-divided as follows. Dark Elves or Iltyr, Forest or Wild Elves, Silver or City Elves, High or Royal Elves, Winged or Sky Elves and Song or Minstrel Elves.
